Dear colleagues,

I am happy to announce Malte Grönbeck's master's colloquium. He has
spent the last few months characterizing a “dummy chip” (MADHAT) and the
current prototype of the readout chips (babyMOSS) of the ALICE ITS3
project. Please find more details below:

*Title:
*Readout and Calibration of MADHAT and Characterization of the babyMOSS
Prototype Sensor

*Date:* Next week, Wednesday, 09.04.2025
*Time:* 11:00
*Location:* Presentation room of the FTD

*Abstract:*
/The ALICE experiment plans a completely new tracking detector based on
silicon MAPS technology manufactured in the 65 nm production node as
part of the ALICE 3 upgrade for Long Shutdown 4 of the LHC. The size of
the whole active area is planned to be 60 m² large, with the Outer
Tracker spanning 45 m². /

/To help investigate unanswered questions in the module design and the
cooling solution, a dummy sensor MADHAT, featuring heating resistors and
an integrated temperature probes, was designed and produced. A
calibration procedure for the temperature probe was developed.
Additionally, the babyMOSS prototype sensor for the Inner Tracking
System 3 was characterized. A telescope based on the babyMOSS chip was
commissioned in a test beam, and the analysed data will also be presented./

If you want to join remotely via Zoom, contact me or Malte for a link.

Kind regards
Philip
