[Support-lattice2022] Reduced Fee for David Albandea Jordan

Dear Sir/Madam, 

I would like to strongly support the reduced fee request of the PhD student David Albandea Jordan. 

 He started his PhD in the fall of 2020 under my supervision. During the first year he worked on a new algorithm
that incorporates winding steps  in the HMC evolution and showed that it does achieve to surmount the topological
freezing in a two dimensional U(1) theory with and without fermions. This result was published in EPJC and presented
in last year conference. We are now working on improving this algorithm for 4D using machine learning techniques.
Recently he won a grant to do a three-month secondment at the U. of Edinburgh under the supervision 
of Prof. L. Del Debbio, that he has just completed. In this short time he has learn the ML techniques that Del Debbio and collaborators 
have recenlty worked on and implemented an improved algorithm in a scalar theory. The results look very promising and will be presented by 
David at the lattice conference. 

He has limited funding resources for travel, so I strongly support his request for a reduced fee. 
He is totally worthy of this partial support !
